Somehow I appreciated what Marcos tried to make during his stint as a President. I mean come on, he may be the most b******t president we have before, yet admittedly, without him, there wouldn't be NATIONAL ARTISTS in existence today.People wouldn't be aware to appreciate our great artists, thanks to them. Without him (and his wife Imelda) today's generation wouldn't be aware of the importance of art in our country. But sadly, after twenty+ years, our art is still in a striving state and our concept of animation and comics are limited for-kids-only amusements and not as pieces of artwork that can be appreciated by adults.

grabe...rant... >.<

My P15 rant(take note of the word "rant"), cause I am poor in putting the words on my mind unto letters.

I always dreamt of the day in where our art industry would flourish and would be cared, loved and supported by the people just like in the days of the Renaissance in Europe(study more history).

We need an upgrade on the modern view of artists these days and we must not downgrade ourselves for the so called "normal people"(masa) to understand us, the art or the story that we are telling. The problem here in the phillippines is that we are a backward country and we are conciously downgrading ourselves both in art and culture so that we may appease the hunger of the so called masa.

I mean, Zorro and korean copy&;Pinoy paste programs? We need something new, even if it is mixed and match from other subjects that we are inspired of, not blatantly copying something. There is no growth in that kind of BS.

As I see, the reason why we are here, so called "post-modern avantgarde and high paladins of the arts" is so that we can show and educate the people that there is more to offer, to invent, to love, to cherish and to create in terms of culture and the arts here in our country. An example of these "post modern avantgarde and high paladins of the arts" are those heroes of the indie film industry. NOW THAT IS WHERE CURRENTLY THE SWEETS ARE AND I LIKE IT!

We are just now recognizing that eventhough our past is robbed from us(by those hispanic diego's GRRR), we can still create the certain pinoy flavor that we always crave but when attained will just only taste like sandy water on a very dry day. But at least it is the 1st step on finding and/or creating something that is both uniquely pinoy and deliciously filipino.

So, modern sketchers, inkers, comic writers and comic artists. Are you a hero of the people or a feeder of them? Either it is your highschool life or something magical, express and create something unique! For our country!

No... Not Yet.... but Im seeing progress.

Bayan Knights, Mangaholix, TRESE [by Budjette and Ka-Jo], Cast [by Jamie Bautista and Arnold Arre] are great examples, in art and storywise.

I thinks its not yet time to be contended since wala pang natatapos.
