Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

For those who're attending H3con, listen up!

Hero TV and Mangaholix will be holding a DRAW A HERO contest on Saturday (November 22) at H3con 2008. For those who're interested in showcasing their creativity and skills, while having the chance to earn awesome prizes this is your chance!

Listed below are the theme, registration details, requirements, criteria and rules:

Draw A Hero – On-The-Spot Drawing Contest

Theme
Create an illustration of your own Original Hero Character.

Registration
Registration will be held in the Mangaholix Booth on Saturday, November 22 at 10am.
The contest will end at 4pm* and all entries must be submitted on or before this time. Late entries will not be accepted.
*Time subject to change.

Requirements
1.Contestant must be 18 years old or below

2.Only paper and pencil will be provided. Additional materials such as coloring tools are optional and must be provided by the contestant if they wish to utilize such mediums.

Criteria
Originality 40%
Creativity 30%
Impact 30%

Rules
1.Plagiarism is strictly prohibited (The use of characters, concepts and/or elements that are registered and/or copyrighted by another individual, company, or legal entity).

2.The contest is for individual artists only. Collaborations (2 or more artists working on one entry) are not allowed and will be immediately disqualified.

3.Any elements in the artwork that is deemed inappropriate for public viewing shall be immediately disqualified (e.g. gore, nudity, sex, extreme violence, etc.)

4.Only on-the-spot entries will be accepted. The submission of a finished artwork or a work-in-progress that was done prior to the contest period shall be immediately disqualified.

5.Entries must be submitted on or before the indicated deadline. Strictly no deadline extensions. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstance.

6.Official contest paper will be provided. The use of any other paper other than that which is provided is strictly prohibited. Entries submitted on non-official paper will not be accepted.

7.The judges' decisions will be final and is not subject to contestation or change.

8.By participating, the contestant relinquishes all rights and claims to the artwork. Additionally, the contestant grants Hero TV full commercial rights to the artwork entry submitted.

9.Employees of Hero TV, Groundbreakers Inc., Hataw Hanep Hero Organizers, and/or their Partners & Affiliates as well as their relatives are prohibited from participating in this contest.

10.Hero TV and/or Groundbreakers Inc. shall reserve the right to exercise their own discretion in the interpretation and enforcing of these rules.

11.Hero TV and/or Groundbreakers Inc. also reserve the right to disqualify any individual that they deem is in violation of these rules or that they deem compromises the integrity of this contest and its parent event.
