ART COLLISION Photo Finish: Cosplay Photography Contest
Calling all photographers! Its high time for all of you to share the limelight with your talented cosplay models. In line with our biggest M3Con yet, Groundbreakers, sponsored by the Japan Foundation, bring to you Art Collision Photo Finish our first M3Con contest that showcases the talents of our dedicated photographers.
As you may have guessed by now, the theme for our photography contest is none other than the art of cosplaying. Art Collision is a photography contest wherein contestants submit a single cosplay-themed photograph. Entries may be submitted to Groundbreakers via email, snail mail, or hand delivery. All entries will be judged by representatives from Groundbreakers and Japan Foundation. The top fifty (50) entries will be displayed during M3Con09 and the winner will be announced on the 2nd day of the event.
Contestants may submit their entries online via email to m3con09photo@groundbreakers.com.ph or via snail mail. You may also submit your entry in person at our office located at 1965 Sandejas St. Pasay City, Metro Manila, 1300 Philippines.*
*For security reasons, you have to inform us at least 2 days before you intend to submit your entry in person. Unscheduled submissions will not be entertained. Contact us at (Office) 526-2254 to schedule an appointment.
THEME
Cosplay is the theme here. That means your photograph must visibly contain a cosplayers/model in full character costume. The subject of the photograph must also have a costume based on an existing anime, manga, or game title/series. Original characters will not be accepted. Keep in mind that fashion photographs alone do not qualify as cosplay.
ELIGIBILITY
1. Art Collision is open to all non-professional photographers who are currently residing in the Philippines. There are no age restrictions.
2. Both analog and digital cameras may be used in taking the photograph.
3. Photograph must not have been previously entered or awarded in any previous contest or competition, both local and abroad, as well as on the internet.
4. Photograph must not have been previously published or featured in any publication or medium including the internet.
5. The photographer must have full and complete rights to the photograph being submitted.
PARAMETERS
Digital Format Specifications:
Both full-color and black & white submissions accepted.
Photographs must be A4 in size with resolution of at least 300dpi.
Landscape or Portrait orientation is acceptable.
JPEG, GIF, or PNG format only.
Filenames should follow the format, ac09-yoursirnamefirstname.ext. Ex. (ac09-iancang.jpg, ac09-emmanjavier.png)
Snail Mail or Hand Delivered entries must be submitted in digital medium (i.e. burned CD or DVD). Entries on non-functioning discs will be disqualified. Please make sure your discs work properly before submitting them and make sure theyre encased properly to avoid any damage to them during transit.
Each contestant may submit up to three (3) unique entries but no contestant may have more than one winning entry.
GUIDELINES
Contestant must be a Filipino citizen or currently residing in the Philippines.
Please make sure to include all the required information below in your submission.
Photographs may have been taken during a live event or a staged photo-shoot; indoor, studio, and outdoor settings are all acceptable.
Post-processing should be kept to a minimum. Cropping and resizing will be allowed. Global adjustments such as the tweaking of the brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation settings are allowed as well. Local adjustments such as cloning, skin retouching/enhancement, etc. are not allowed.
Composites or photographs comprised of more than one image are not allowed.
Effects from built-in camera features may be utilized (i.e. exposure time, cross processing, double exposure, etc.).
The photograph must not have any marks identifying the photographer (i.e. watermarks, logos, text, emblems, etc.).
Any element in the photograph that is deemed inappropriate for public viewing shall be immediately disqualified (e.g. gore, nudity, sex, extreme violence etc.)
Plagiarism is strictly prohibited (Entering a photograph that is not yours note: digitally editing a photograph does not make it yours).
Photographer will retain ownership and copyrights of his/her photograph but Groundbreakers Inc. reserves the right to use submitted entries for promotional purposes as they see fit.
The judges decision will be final.
Groundbreakers and/or Japan Foundation reserve the right to disqualify any entry or contestant that does not comply with these guidelines.

Contest entries will be accepted up until Saturday, November 14, 2009, 11:59pm local Philippine time.
Contest winners will be announced during the Mangaholix Manga Mania: Animangaming Convention 2009.
